Additional Contest Rules and Guidelines:
  • Entries will be judged by a professional panel of photographers and educators on how well the image represents the given freedom (50%), originality (25%), and on the pictorial composition of the image itself (25%).
  • Only images that adhere to the stated subject matter and guidelines will be considered. Images must be the original work of the entrant and not infringe on the rights of any third party. Failure to follow these rules may result in disqualification.
  • Images submitted become the property of MNIEC and will not be returned. Entries may be used for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation. Member newspapers are free to publish the photos.
  • No purchase is necessary.
  • Parent's or guardian's signature allows permission to have student's name and photograph published alongside the winning image.
  • Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, illegible, incomplete, incorrect, misdirected, or postage-due mail/entries, or for errors in the administration or fulfillment of this contest, including, without limitation: mechanical, human, printing, distribution, or production errors. Sponsor may modify or cancel this promotion based upon such error at its sole discretion without liability. Subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void outside Massachusetts and where prohibited.
  • For teachers who plan to have their entire class participate, we strongly suggest dividing the class into five groups and assigning a different freedom to each group. Also, teachers submitting multiple digital images on behalf of their students may submit multiple images on one CD.
